Default Replace stock honda cassette player?

I have a 97 civic that has the radio at the top of the dash and the separate cassette player behind the shifter and cup holders. I dont really know much about installing car stereos but have looked into it and think I have it mostly figured out. I want to put a DVD player in the car and I know that I could get one with an AM/FM receiver to replace the radio, or i could get one without the FM receiver and mount it elsewhere with an FM modulator.

Those options are both fine with me if I have to do them, but I would prefer to not have it mounted on the floor or anything, and I would also prefer to not have to replace the existing radio. Is there anyway I could get a DVD player without the AM/FM receiver and have it replace the cassette player and hook directly into the factory head unit without any serious rewiring? Thanks in advance.

If removing the factory cassette, you can use an AUX adapter to feed audio in, see this

and then you can buy a din size dvd player and feed the dvd audio outputs into the aux adapter

Okay thanks that answers the wiring question. Just to double check though, the lower cassette player (and not the actual headunit) can be replaced with any din size dvd player? Thanks in advance.

In theory yes, but it may require some custom work since all din players (even iso din) vary in depth and the actual frame diameter size.

You also have the option to buy a DVD/CD player with FM, mount it on top and replace your factory radio.

Dash kits for your car can be found in our DASH KIT Department under HONDA if you want to go that route.
