clear corners for 97 pathy.

i just recieved my clear corners for my pathfinder today. After popping the the hood an unscrewing the corner light, i tried to pull it out but it wont come. There is a long metal rod that goes into the car and i cant dislodge the light from the car. ive had this problem with my taillights as well. If any can help me id reallly appreciate it, thanx.
