Default 2002 Honda Odyssey MP3/AUX input

Just ordered a MP3 AUX input for my 02 Honda Odyssey. Can't wait to hook it up. Newbie installation. Where do I start? I'd like to use the blank rectangle on the left to put the RCA ports.

The MP3 aux adapter is here

    HONDA AUXILIARY ADAPTER

    To get to the radio.

    Put the parking brake on.
Turn the car to second position without the car on
    Shift down the shifter
From the trim around the radio at the shift location, pull out
Slowly work around the trim on your radio, slowly pulling out the trim at the edges using your fingernails
    Remove trim
Remove 8mm bolts around radio, remove radio
plug in your aux device INTO radio
    plug in rca cables
drop down rca cables to the SIDE to the FLOOR console to the right (you should be able to see down)
    Replace radio
    Replace trim

    You are done

Here's what I got in the mail today. Slightly different from what was pictured on the website. Same connections. I'll attempt to put the RCA box on the blank left panel (shown above - Fog lights switch on some models). Shown are the AUX adapter and an edited photo showing what I'm hoping it'll end up as.... Also - what is the extra small wire for? Looks like speaker wire.... The instructions say its a Ground wire for installing a battery operated MP3 player. Does that mean I have to use this wire if I'm using this aux input for my MP3 player. Please explain. thanks

    Hello,

Yes, we source from multiple manufacturers, our primary manufacturer had a backorder so we sourced with Pie products. Same application, same plugs.

The black wire is for use to ground if you get noise when you are using a portable mp3 player (ground loop), I wouldnt ground it unless you are hearing noise.

That looks neat with the blank switch, but you will need to secure the module into place for rca cable insertion and is there enough room with the heads of the rca cables?

We sell a finishing plug for dashes, shown below

Do you really have to disconnect the battery? I've read several post that say you don't - but the instructions clearly state that you do it.

No. Not for the aux adapter. But plug it in with the car OFF

Completed the project. 10 minutes. Put the parking brake on, shifted down to 1st to clear a path to get to the panel. Started on the left - and with some gentle force - the panel popped right out. Unplugged the interior light to get the panel more out of the way. 4 screws to remove the CD player. Plugged in the aux adapter, and RCA extension cable and tucked it behind the CD player. Ran the cable to the unused fog light switch box. Works 100%.

Very nice work, yes, it is (or was) "THAT EASY"

    Good luck with it

I'm stuck here. I'm applying force, gentle and more than gentle to the left of the panel. How do you get the panel to pop out?

Should pull out, it is held in by clips, go and pull on the rim.
